Energy credits took a wild ride during the budget reconciliation process. The House passed a version that would have terminated transferability and almost immediately sunset many credits. The Senate Finance Committee modified this, but not as much as many hoped. Before the bill even went to the floor, it was modified again. Almost immediately after the bill was passed, the President issued an Executive Order requiring the Department of the Treasury and the Department of the Interior to implement the bill's provisions within 45 days. Today’s issue will examine the changes to energy credits in the law's final version and the recently issued Executive Order.
